# Governance

Ethereum mainnet address: \*TBD\*

### Governance

To participate in on-chain governance, it is necessary to acquire a balance of sZERO. Holding a balance of ZERO does not enable voting privilege by itself.

Governance contracts are derived from and implement the same interface as the OpenZeppelin governance framework. A full API description is available here:

<https://docs.openzeppelin.com/contracts/4.x/api/governance>

Transactions originating from on-chain governance are permissioned to liquidate collateral. A successful liquidation transaction from the governance address to the ZEROFROST contract will snapshot the price distribution of wrapped assets, factory up new wrapped asset contracts, and provide wrapped asset holders to redeem compromised wrapped assets for their proportional value in stETH/rETH collateral. The ZERO network will enter a recovery state where it will attempt to DKG a new FROST ring as a new group of signers bond ZERO and their choice of collateral.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.zerodao.com/dao/governance.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
